Ripple is a series of marble products designed using advanced parametric modeling and made on 7 axis Kuka industrial Robotic arms at Quarra Stone Robotic Facility in the USA. Ripple explores the highly progressive qualities of Layth Mahdi’s work, both aesthetically and technologically. The idea is to take something people perceive as solid and rigid (stone) and make it, - through the use of highly advanced robots- look very fluid, organic and light. The collection is made from two types of solid high end marble; Vermont and Georgia Marble. Ripple seeks to explore the combination of unique materiality and advanced robotic fabrication techniques.
